These are the releases we recommend you use unless you have a specific need to continue
use of an earlier release or are taking an advance look at our work in progress.
There are two WPF versions of GADS OS: a standalone and an XBAP version.
Standalone Applications (traditional style Windows applications built as
executable assemblies that are installed to and run from the client computer or
a network shared drive).
The Standalone Windows Installer (MSI) packages can be downloaded and saved to a
harddrive OR used to directly deploy the modules on the end user’s machine or network
server. The MSI packages can either be manually installed on the target computer,
or pushed to many client computers on the network by a network administrator.
WPF XAML browser applications (XBAPs) combine features of both Web applications
and Windows rich-client applications. Like Web applications, XBAPs can be deployed
to a Web server and started from Internet Explorer.
The XBAP (Browser) packages are standard Zip packages that are simply unZipped and
the files copied to the Web server. Installation instructions are found
on the WPF XBAP Deployment page. (XBAPs can only be
used with SQL Server or Oracle databases; not Microsoft Access.)
The GADS Open Source WPF versions requires the installation of .NET Framework 4.0
on Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows Server 2008 and Windows 7 operating systems
as it is not available by default.
